Carl L. Wheeler papers, 1934-1936.

The Carl L. Wheeler Collection consist five black-and-white photographs and one letter. The photographs include images of a sod house built by a University of Alaska student from Siberia and located near the university campus. Other images include Carl "Lew" Wheeler and an Alaska Native, Will Rogers and Wiley Post in their aircraft, Sepp's dog team at Chatanika Mining camp, and "Lew" Wheeler in front of an ice house at the Ice Carnival in Fairbanks, Alaska. The letter is from Carl L. Wheeler to the dean of the University of Alaska, written on February 4, 2000, and includes Wheeler's recollections about the time he spent living close to the university.

The youngest of eight children, William Penn Adair Rogers was born on November 4, 1879 at Rogers Ranch in Oologah, Indian Territory (what is now Oklahoma).
